For our Christian friends, marriage is a divine covenant with God where sacred vows are exchanged between two people. The Bible provides many verses on marriage advice and how God sees fit for a stable relationship between a husband and wife. Marriage isn’t always smooth sailing, and the Scripture can help to provide guidance and encouragement for our Christian couples during tough times.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)
1 Corinthians 13 is a popular verse for weddings as it simply explains what is love in God’s eyes, it is a perfect reminder to the couple how they should treat one another in love according to the Scripture. One way to incorporate these verses into the wedding is to have them written down on wooden boards, and place them along the aisle.
“ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hope, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
1 John 4:18-19 (NIV)
Love is such a powerful thing. Some couples have gone through tough obstacles together, being there for one another and supporting each other. This verse shows how love is the strongest thing in the world and a reminder of how God’s love for them in the midst of their love for each other.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear. We love because he first loved us.”
Bible Verses on Marriage
Genesis 2:22-24 (NIV)
This passage explained the origin of husband and wife, Adam and Eve. God’s heart behind marriage is for a man and a woman to become one, to be united in the heart that one may provide companionship to the other.

“This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”

Marriage is a holy union, not to be broken. This scripture is a reminder and a blessing over the couple for an everlasting marriage.

In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.”

Love Poems in the Bible
Song of Solomon 4:9-11
“ You have captured my heart, my treasure, my bride. You hold it hostage with one glance of your eyes, with a single jewel of your necklace. Your love delights me, my treasure, my bride. Your love is better than wine, your perfume more fragrant than spices. Your lips are as sweet as nectar, my bride. Honey and milk are under your tongue. Your clothes are scented like the cedars of Lebanon.”
