Childhood crushes often get dismissed as puppy love but their love story is far from that. Cherryl and Joshua met again when they were older. They didn’t fall in love at the spur of the moment. It was through a gradual journey of understanding and shared memories until both of them realized the other held a special spot in their hearts.
Do check out their awesome wedding from the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour to their hotel at Grand Copthorne Waterfront.
Cherryl may have started crushing on Joshua first. But the immense love Joshua holds for Cherryl can be seen in the tears welling up as he watches her walk down the aisle to him.
As Cherryl’s dad pulls Joshua into a tight embrace before handing over his daughter’s hand, we are reminded. That marriage is not just the union of two people. It is a bond that unites two families. They may have grown up with different customs and cultures but they have accepted the differences to be one on this day.
The couple also makes sure everyone has as much fun as them on their big day. From a photo booth (Printaparty) to having a floral bar (The Presh Buds) during the reception, they incorporated unconventional elements to make this wedding truly unique to them.
They have also made efforts to integrate both their individual traditional customs into their wedding. To the Chinese, the tea ceremony is especially significant. Having grown up in a Eurasian family, Cherryl adapts herself readily to this tradition. As they kneel before the elders to serve tea as a form of respect, the elders’ faces can be seen lighting up with fondness.
During the evening segment, the couple has also adopted the Eurasian tradition of partying. This could be new to Chinese guests who are used to sitting throughout the wedding. The couple kickstarts the dance-off with their bridesmaids and groomsmen tagging behind. As the energetic music starts blasting through the speakers, they dance around the whole venue to get guests up to the party together. Soon enough, everyone has thrown away their initial awkwardness to end the night with a bang.
